New Minelab Gold Detector
I posted the lower part on another thread but wanted to share this as a new topic. Had a chance to play with a new gold detector at Rye Patch Nevada 2 weeks ago that Minelab is releasing in mid-April and it was amazing while testing it comparing other detectors with 25 different gold samples. If you're considering a gold detector, you have to consider this one. Same price as the other companies best gold detectors with many more advantages. I also have a Minelab GPX 4500 and this new Minelab will complement my expensive Minelab very well serving a purpose where even the expensive detector won't.
"2 weeks ago, there were 15 of us at Rye Patch Nevada for gold detector training and gold hunting conducted by Gerry from Gerry's Detectors. Gerry brought 25 samples of gold consisting of sample sizes from .1 gram up to a 16 oz nugget he found. These samples consisted of many different types of concentrations of gold within rock and pure gold nuggets of many different sizes.
We tested every sample comparing the Gold Bug 2 to the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 being released in mid-April. The 1000 outperformed the GB2 (and other VLF detectors) on every sample by at least 25% better depth performance.
I owned a GB2 until last week when I sold it since I've now pre-ordered the new Minelab. The Minelab is a VLF detector like the GB2 at about the same price. It's $799 or $680 if you're military/veteran from Gerry at Gerry's Detectors at the link below . The Minelab comes with 2 coils compared to only one with the GB2, it has automatic ground balance unlike the GB2, it has a screen unlike the GB2, and it has much better ferrous/non-ferrous discrimination than the GB2.
Bottom line, it blew away the GB2 and the other VLF detectors and 6 of us that saw it compared to the GB2 pre-ordered one on the spot. The Minelab is much more user friendly too.
If you ask Gerry about this detector tell him Dean sent you so he'll then owe me a beer. 🙂
Seems like a decent price. Will have to check it out
Got word from Gerry that Minelab will now not be shipping them in mid-April. Hopefully it'll be very soon.
Official word from Minelab is that they will now be available on 8 May.
