Hi Tracy, Oregon here as well. I'd recommend joining a local club as they have claims you can run equipment on. Let me know what corner of the State you're in and I'll give you some club contact information for your area. Respect the rights of other claim owners please. Be safe.

HI, thanks for your information. I live in the Roseburg area. I have been looking into purchasing my own claim, but its pretty complicated. No worries, i am responsible and careful about other people's claims. I usually go to the river or public areas~~Tracy

Tracy, Lucky you! Your area has lots of great gold. The Douglass County Prospectors Association would be an excellent start. I've mined on Cow Creek where one of their claims are located and got great color. Search them online.

Just to the North of you out of Cottage Grove is the Bohemia Mine Owners Association. The gold is finer but lots of it in the area. BMOA has 9 or more claims, great area no rattle snakes that I've seen. Beautiful there as it's on the green side of the divide. Anything South of the divide is plagued with poison oak, rattlers and ticks. FWIW. I think BMOA is $35 per year? The DCPA is about the same price.

Hope that helps, happy hunting.
