Finally got My New Flow Pan!
Well it finally came in the mail.
Packaged very well and no damages (Docs shipping crew does a great jog).
I unboxed it and set about assembly. To my surprise it was different than the model shown in the video....
Doc? Did you make some modification?
There is a shelf(?) that is down each of the long sides just absolve the bottom tray. Not sure what that’s all about but it makes it impossible to get the mat out without disassembly AND makes it very difficult to install or remove the screws that hold the bottom in. I had a heck of a time!!
Im going to have to carry a pair of needle nosed pliers with me to help install those little buggars.
I can’t wait for late spring when I can bike into my secret spot (Ed in the shed Melvin knows where I’m talking about) and get this thing working for me!
I think you made the same mistake I did. The Gold Hog decals can't go on the inside, the pay would scratch them to nothing. Besides the decals are on the outside of all the other equipt I watched the unboxing/assembly video but somehow I failed to hear DOC say "decals on the inside". Just went outside and redid the assembly right and guess what it goes together easy now, the mat is TIGHT on the sides but won't lose it for sure. Just my 2 cents in 2018 currency. Dan
Yes... MAKE SURE... you read the owners manual and look at the pictures.
All the SIDES of the pan go INSIDE the bottom square tray. Decals go inside the pan. Mat will fit tight.
Well Now - I'm just glad that it wasn't me that put it together backwards the first time! I know, I know - it could happen to anyone experiencing "The Thrill" and I certainly understand.
My order for a Flow Pan, a Power Pig Header Box for my in stream sluice box and some additional mats should be shipped in a very short time. Hours I expect - based on past performance.
The Flow Pan and Power Pig are two pieces of equipment that I am really, really excited about. Over the years I have been looking high and low for a fast, and efficient pan for testing here, there and over there on my claim. I've found it now!
The Power Pig Header Box for my in stream sluice box will be just the ticket as a logical follow-up to the Flow Pan testing program. It is a simple intermediary step up to production without fully committing the operation to larger equipment. All things being equal, the next step in the ongoing process would be to set up my Gold Hog Raptor Flare high banker and shovel 'til I almost drop.
The nice thing about the Flow Pan will be that just with it and a shovel I can travel around through the "Pucker Brush" (insanely dense Alaskan willow thickets) to work through all the areas I want to test. Fast, easy and accurate -YAHOO!
